This book is the most comprehensive and through book on architecture and interior design history available in the marketplace, starting with ancient periods and goes through periods of the 18th century. The book includes with each section a brief overview of the history of the times, architecture which includes drawings and photographs, interior design which includes motifs, color schemes and furnishings – furniture, fabrics and limited discussion of decorative accessories. Has a section of color plates, with each section included – color photos are not integrated into the other pages – UNFORTUNATE – but you can’t have everything!! Very through coverage of all periods – certainly covers all at a certain depth – not complete – but it is a great resource if you have a limited amount of space for books and want to get the maximum bang for your buck. It is a costly book but to have all the information included in this one volume could cost much, much more. For interior design students and interior design professionals – this is a great book to have in your library – to keep!
