Earthship Biotecture creates buildings that… * Heat and cool themselves naturally via solar/thermal dynamics * Collect their own power from the sun and wind * Harvest their own water from rain and snow melt * Contain and treat their own sewage on site * Produce food in significant quantities * Utilize materials that are byproducts of modern society like cans, bottles and tires www.earthship.com

best shit ever!

This is sad, after so many years, you would think that people would be made aware of Earthships. Thanks for the commentary

The Earthship will pass inspection and they are up to code. Many counties have changed thier codes to accomadate Earthship. Earthship is TRUE FREEDOM. Support Michael Reynolds!!

@Achbar they violate a lot of building codes apparently
its a legal battle they fight fairly often
at least thats the impression i get from the other videos

I understand. Thanks for pointing this out.

they are expensive to build.. believe it or not an Earth Ship home cost more to build than an ordinary home. But the payoff is helping the environment and eventually lowering your own cost of living. (after the home is paid for).

Awesome concept ! This guy is a genius. Wish i could afford one.
February 10th, 2010 at 7:37 am
These homes seem t be cost effective, I am not sure why more are not built.

Not sure where your based FlatfootJohnny….but you certainly can tax sunlight, it was tried in the UK in the 17th and 18th centuries. It was known as ‘window tax’. The more windows you had, the more you paid. Eventually people started bricking up their windows to avoid paying so much. As well as being a crime against architecture, it where the expression ‘daylight robbery’ stems from.

Im not sure why people get so het up against green tech. Surley if its cleaner then its better. Why are so many happy to breath in pollution, poison rivers, and thoughtlessly kill wildlife…not to mention starve developing nations. why be dependant on only 1 source of energy technology ie fossilised carbon. If the greenhouse effect is not happening then at least we get cleaner tech, being developed. If it is happening and we do nothing then we are buggered! oh yea we cant tax the sun and wind.

wow cooooool!

You have no way to refute what I say so you resort to name calling. Classic uneducated Al Gorean simpleton response, couldn’t have expected anything else.
Did you know your God Al Gore has made over $5 billion, with his co-founder Goldman Sachs banker buddie David Blood, from scamming global warming suckers like you?
Also, what Alex Jones talks about has nothing to do with right wing or left wing politics.
Go fight your windmills, Don Quixote. Continue the ignorance. Peace.
February 10th, 2010 at 10:59 am
what an exotic breed of idiot you sound like…ah..of course!
There’s the telltale Alex Jones ‘favorite’.
Global warming is a distraction, but any other right wing crackpot fever dream is very serious stuff.
“Political tool” indeed. Shut yr ass, poser.

Who decides who is “competent” enough to have an opinion? You? I don’t think so.
I’m not a scientist but I’ve done my research.
February 10th, 2010 at 11:05 am
It’s meant to be challenged by competent people, ie scientists who know what they’re talking about.
Are you a scientist?
February 10th, 2010 at 11:12 am
No. I don’t watch TV, too many lies come from that box,.
February 10th, 2010 at 11:19 am
Lemme guess. you listen to the Fox News Channel

Tireshops pay lots of money to have trucks picking up used tires. So some of the Earthship builders actually get paid to take care of the tires.
